It is the 27th of January and it is time for the 24 in 48 Readathon. A readathon that lasts for 48 hours in which you have to read 24 hours. I will see hor far I will come and which amazing pieces I read. Have a great day reading and good luck for everyone who is also participating!

It has begun! It is time for the 24 in 48 Readathon! I had a little trouble getting up (it is half past 8 right now here), but I managed to get out of bed and pick up my first book. This House is Haunted by John Boyne. I have to say it is more spooky than I expected. In Dutch it has not such a spooky name. But it is alright and I am quite liking it. And now the intro survey!

Where are you from, where are you now, and what’s the furthest from home you traveled in the past year?
I am from the Netherlands. I am now in my own student room in the Netherlands. The furthest I have traveled was in the holiday. I have been to Austria with my parents.

Have you done the ’thon before? How many times?! If it’s your first time with us, where did you hear about the Readathon?
This is the second time I participate. The last time went not so well, so I am determined to do better this weekend.

Are you readathon-ing alone? If not, who are you doing the Readathon with?

Yes, I am doing this alone. And with all these amazing people on the internet of course.

Do you have a stack, or are you winging it? OR what book are you kicking the Readathon off with?
I have a stack of books. I have started with This House is Haunted by John Boyne.

What’s your Hogwarts house?
Hufflepuff!

Remind us where to find you online this weekend.
I am here on my blog of course. Updates will come under this piece and then it will become a long 24 in 48 post. Also I am on Twitter @Riannew1995.

And now back to reading!

It is going so great. We are like 3,5 hours in and I have already read for three full hours. Also my first book is shorter than I thought, so I have only about hundred more pages to go. I am quite liking it. It is more spooky than I thought, but I was afraid it would only get worse, but for now it is okay. Not too much.

Hope your readathon is going great!

And I am done! I have read my first book of this readathon! I am a little amazed that I read my first book so fast. The book was really interesting. I liked the idea of the book, although the ending was not really for me and I did not find the writing that great, but it was a great story. A little sad also.

Now I am going to have a little break. Calm down a bit and then I will pick up the next book. Brigands M.C. by Robert Muchamore or The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan. What book should I read?

Were already for so long in this readathon. I think I am going great. I am reading my second book: Brigands M.C. by Robert Muchamore, the eleventh book in the Cherub series about a sort of boarding school with kid spies. It is really amazing and I am liking it. However, my head is also hurting a little. Maybe it is time for a little rest?

Also the first challenge has gone up. It is the question: What’s the oldest children’s book you have, or a book you’ve held onto since your childhood?
Because I can’t remember the names of the other books I have read, I will go for the Harry Potter books. I think I have read the first three in only a weekend and luckily I was allowed to bring the rest of the series with me. It was amazing!

And I am done with my second book! This is going quite fast I think. Now I have only one book on my list left. Maybe I need to find some more books to read. I do not think I can make it to the full 24 hours though. I have a rather busy day tomorrow and I am only on 10.5 hours. But alright, I am having fun.
Brigands M.C. was really amazing. It is about a motorbike gang and now even I am eager to start riding a motorbike. But that would not happen of course.

Now there was also a new challenge for hour 12. The question was this time to write down the best first line from the 24 in 48 readathon reading pile. I have chosen for the first line in the next book I am going to read, The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan: ‘The snake-haired ladies were starting to annoy Percy.’ The books by Rick Riordan are really amazing and this first line already begins great. I cannot wait to dive into it!

There are more than 10 hours to go, but I stopped reading. I stopped last night at around 12 with reading. Today I have read for 2 hours more I think, but it is enough. I am not reaching the 24 hours and I am too exhausted and too dizzy to start reading again. Also I am afraid that I will start to dislike reading for a while if I push too hard. Therefore I think it is good to give myself rest now.

I was reading the Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan the last few hours. I is a great book! I am about halfway through and I really like the references and the jokes. This second book of Heroes of Olympus is about Percy again and I really like Percy (bookcrush I think). But I stop halfway and I will finish the book later in my ‘free’ time.

Also I think I like the 24 hour readathon more. I am too distracted generally to read for 24 hours. I had like thirteen hours this morning so I needed to read eleven more hours today. I wouldn’t be able to do that. I like the freedom of a 24 hour readathon where you can decide for yourself how long you will read. But I hope you all had a great readathon and see you again at the next readathon.
