Today is the big day! The 24 hour readathon. I am excited, I am a bit nervous, but mostly excited excited excited. I have a few books on my list that I can read today. They are all on my e-reader, so sadly I don’t have photos of those books.

These are the books I want to read:

Hidden – Sophie Jordan
Allies of the Night – Darren Shan
Man vs. Beast – Robert Muchamore
Unbelievable – Sara Shephard

I don’t want to read all these books, because I still want to sleep and I don’t want to push myself. I hope I will have fun today. For those who are also participating: I wish you all good luck!

Hour 0

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
My boyfriends home in the Netherlands. Nice cozy on the couch and on the bed.

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Hidden written by Sophie Jordan. It is the last book in the series and I look forward to unravel the mysteries and finishing the series.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Oh oh oh. So much to choose from. I have mini pizzas, noodles, crisps. Everything is so yummy!

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I am Rianne, I live in the Netherlands and I study economy in Nijmegen. I love to read, write and run.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
This time I am not going to stay awake for 24 hours. I am doing an internship now, and I really need my sleep.

Hour 2

I am having very much fun with reading. I am comfy in a nice chair with a blanket covering me. I have had mini pizzas for lunch and those were very yummy. Love them.

My book is a bit… diappointing. I am reading Hidden by Sophie Jordan. I like the world in this book, but the main character is just so annoying. Make a choice! She just can’t choose and stick to that choice. It is left, right, left, right. Aargh..

The first challenge is about a six word story. That is very short, and I am not very creative with short written things, but I tried my best.

Hour 5

It is almost 7 ‘o clock here in the Netherlands, and while eating my spaghetti alla carbonara I finished by first book! I have the feeling it was a fast read, but I am happy I finished it. I don’t know if I like this book or not. At least I am now starting my second book: Man vs Beast written by Robert Muchamore. I am almost sure I will like this book, because I have read many books of this series. I think this one will be as good as the other ones.

Kristen from thebookmonsters.com hosted a mini challenge concerning food and snacks. Hereby I will post you the yummy picture with my dinner. Next to the book I just finished: Hidden written by Sophie Jordan.

Hour 7

Suddenly I found a cat on my lap. Sadly my legs started to hurt, so I had to push her off. I hoped she liked it there at least.

I am now 70 pages into my next book, names man vs beast. It was as I expected, I like it so much. This series, Cherub, is about child agents who go undercover in families, because people won’t expect children being secret agents. I like this series very much. It is funny, light, adventurous and I like to read about the training and lessons these children have. This book: Man vs Beast, is about an organization that tries to free animals from laboratories and other cruel places. But they will not do that peaceful.

Now I am going to run for like half an hour outside to unwind a bit and become more awake. But firstly I am going to post my answer to a mini challenge.

Mini challenge

Kate from midnightbookgirl.com hosted this mini-challenge involving memories about books.
I remember reading in the garden of a family member. I was so into this book, Harry Potter of course, that I didn’t hear that the people were asking me questions. My mother had to give me a nudge to get me back to my senses, but I just couldn’t lay the book down. I had to read on. I hope they were not so angry with me for forgetting my self and my surroundings in that book.

Hour 21

I have to admit. I went to bed. I went to bed at midnight CET and I awoke at 8 ‘o clock in the morning. I knew I was not going to read on for 24 hours and I stuck to my plan. Now I am going to read on for the last four hours. But first I am going to post the mid event survey, even though I am well past that mid event.

1. What are you reading right now?
I am still reading Man vs Beast written by Robert Muchamore.

2. How many books have you read so far?
1,5?

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
Haha, I am not going to read many books. I hope to finish the one I am now reading

4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
I slept for 8 hours and I watched my boyfriend playing Civilization VI, but I am reading again!

5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
THE FOOD. THE FOOD IS SO GOOD!

Hour 23

I finished! I finished my second book this readathon! I am very happy I achieved my goal. Now it is time to take a break and rest for the rest of the day. I hope that the other people participating in the readathon also had so much fun as me, and until next april!

Hour 24

I stopped reading for about an hour now, but I will come back for a few minutes to fill in the end of event survey. Here you go:

Which hour was most daunting for you?
I think the last hour before I went to bed. I wanted to read as long as possible but I was starting to doze off..

Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
The Cherub series is fast, but very interesting. I read the books with a breeze.

Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next season?
I liked it when there were people encouraging me on Twitter the first few times I participated.

What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
I like the way the blog posts on the website are written and the way the mini challenges are hosted.

How many books did you read?
2? I am happy with that count!

What were the names of the books you read?
Man vs. Beast, written by Robert Muchamore and Hidden written by Sophie Jordan.

Which book did you enjoy most?
The one written by Robert Muchamore I guess.

Which did you enjoy least?
The other one?

How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
I think I will participate in the next one. Also I won’t have an internship in that period so much more opportunity to read and read and read.

See you in April!
